About
I am a former professional footballer who spent the majority of my career at Manchester United, one of the most decorated academy graduates of my generation. Born in Longsight, Manchester, I joined United's academy at just 12 years old in 1992, turned professional in 1996, and made my senior debut in 1998 — going on to become part of the club's historic Treble-winning side that same season. My journey wasn't without setbacks: a serious injury kept me out for the entire 1999–2000 season, but became a first-team regular from 2000 onwards, as United's first-choice right-back. Over 15 years at Old Trafford I won 13 major honours, including multiple Premier League titles and two UEFA Champions Leagues, and was described by Sir Alex Ferguson as one of the best natural defenders the club has had. I earned 23 caps for England, debuted in 1999, and represented England at the 2002 World Cup, before retiring from international football in 2010. After leaving Manchester United in 2011, I continued his playing at Sunderland — helping the club reach the 2014 League Cup final — followed by spells at Blackburn Rovers and Kerala Blasters. Alongside work on financial education, I have an active commercial schedule that spans brand partnerships, broadcast punditry with MUTV, sports dinners and Q&A's, coaching, the odd charity match.

After-dinner speaking
From the highs of a Man Utd debut, winning the Premier League and representing my country to the lows of serious injury and some tough losses. Playing with some of the games greats and for one of a kind while at United for over 20 years. I will share the discipline, sacrifices and standards required to stay at the top, the pain and frustration of serious injury. My story is a mixture of highs, lows, laughs, camaraderie, tears and a few medals.
